Assistant Professor of Mathematics & Statistics
The Department of Quantitative Sciences at Canisius College invites applications for a tenure-track position in its Mathematics & Statistics Program. The position, pending final budgetary approval, is to be at the assistant professor level, to begin in Fall 2023. The department consists of the programs in Mathematics/Statistics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Pre-engineering.
A PhD in Mathematics or Statistics (ABD considered), as well as a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research in a Liberal Arts setting, is essential. The department will give a preferential consideration to areas that can mesh well with our growing Master’s degree program in Data Analytics, such as Financial math or Actuarial math. The successful candidate will play an integral role in shaping/developing our Mathematics/Statistics and Data Science majors as well as our graduate program in Data Analytics.
Canisius College highly values teaching excellence as well as research & scholarship. The faculty members in our department are active scholars who publish articles and books on a regular basis, and we expect the new member to have his or her own on-going research program. In the recent past, the department has run highly innovative programs of undergraduate research, including an NSF-sponsored REU.

Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time faculty’s date of hire and include – health, dental and vision insurance, life and long term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time faculty with contribution from College after one year. One year waiting period may be waived provided the person was employed in higher education for at least one year full time within three years prior to hire date. College contribution would not begin until proof of prior service is received. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time faculty and their qualified dependents.
