Position Description: Student Teaching Supervisor
The School of Education and Human Services at Canisius College is currently seeking student teaching supervisors in the content areas of Physical Education, Social Studies and Mathematics.
The college supervisor serves as a mentor to teacher candidates completing student teaching requirements in K-12 classrooms during a 14-week semester. The supervisor is responsible for establishing a relationship with the student teacher and the assigned mentor teacher(s), reviewing lesson plans, conducting classroom observations, providing regular feedback and support and completing final evaluations for each student teacher. The supervisor may be assigned up to six student teacher candidates in any given semester.
Guidance and support for this role is provided through the Office of Educational Partnerships.
- Current NYS certification in the content area
- Minimum of five years teaching experience
- Supervisory/mentoring experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to utilize various forms of technology
- Positive view of teaching and passion for the content area
