Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics & Statistics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Canisius College invites applications for a one-year leave replacement position in Mathematics at the visiting assistant professor level, to begin in Fall 2021. A PhD in Mathematics or Statistics is preferred, but ABDs will be considered. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching in the liberal arts setting is essential. As the department is likely to conduct a tenure-track position search next year (pending approval), having a strong on-going research program will be considered favorably. The department will consider all areas of Mathematics, but preference will be given to candidates whose expertise is in mathematical statistics or data science. Canisius College has a solid Master’s degree program in Data Analytics. While our immediate need is for someone to teach mathematics courses at freshman and sophomore level, we are seeking a candidate who is also able to teach introductory and upper-level statistics courses, and possibly graduate courses in Data Analytics. The successful candidate will teach four courses (three preparations) each semester.

Applications will be accepted online through mathjobs.org and must include: (1) a cover letter, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) a description of research, (4) a statement of teaching experience and philosophy, and (5) three letters of recommendation, discussing both research and teaching skills. We will review applications as they are received and continue until the position is filled. To ensure full consideration, receipt of complete application materials is required on or before April 1, 2021.
