Assistant Professor of Communication & Digital Media Arts
The Digital Media Arts Program, a component of the Department of Communication at Canisius College is seeking candidates for the position of full-time, tenure-track professor, to begin in fall 2020. The Program confers Bachelors of Science degrees upon students who complete a series of required core courses, and elective courses designated among four concentrations: graphic design, web design, game design and digital filmmaking.
The professor will be responsible for teaching both required and elective courses in the major, performing service duties, advancing a scholarly research agenda and maintaining professional productivity. Candidates should be well versed in the four major concentrations; however, special consideration will be given to candidates who exhibit a focus on game design and interactive media.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Curriculum development with an emphasis on game design, virtual reality, interaction design, and emerging digital technologies
• Student advising
• Outcomes assessment
• Service to the department, college, and community
• Promotion of the program for recruitment and retention
Minimum Job Requirements
• Terminal degree in fine arts, communication studies, or related disciplines.
• A demonstrable record of academic and industry experience in the field of digital media.
• Clear research agenda evident through peer-reviewed scholarship.
• Teaching experience is recommended, but not required.
