Assistant Director of Athletic Performance

Canisius College seeks an Assistant Director of Athletic Performance. Canisius is a member of the Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Assistant Director of Athletic Performance ensures the Canisius Athletic Performance Program is administered with constant commitment to compliance with all institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. This is a modified, full-time 10 month position which reports to the Director of Athletic Performance. This position will work evening and weekends.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the administration of the athletic performance programs for 20 varsity sports.
  • Work with head coaches to improve athletic performance of all varsity student-athletes.
  • Supervise, educate and monitor student-athletes while using the facility and ensure they are utilizing proper lifting techniques to ensure maximum results in a safe environment.
  • Supervise and assist in the development of graduate assistants and interns.
  • Schedule and supervise the weight room and maintain all the weight room equipment.
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations of Canisius College, the MAAC Conference and the NCAA.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicant must have the ability to work compatibly and cooperatively with the staff and personnel in the department of Athletics and other College departments.
  • Bachelor's Degree is required (Master's Degree preferred).
  • CSCS or SCCC certification is required (or must be obtained within one year of hire).
  • Working knowledge of various training techniques.
  • Prior experience at the collegiate level is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a modified, full-time, 10-month position. Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time employee's date of hire and include; health, dental and vision insurance, life and long term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time employees with contribution from College after one year. Paid holidays, vacation, personal leave and sick leave. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents.
