JOB IDENTIFICATION: General Worker
Works under direction of General Worker/Working Foreman and supervisor; performing all forms of general work. Hours of work may vary.
- Performs general work such as: event set-up, furniture moving, lawn cutting, snow removal, ditch digging, etc.
- Works inside and outside.
- Performs general labor duties and all aspects of campus maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED:
General Worker is under the direction of Working Foreman and Lead-General Worker/Housekeeping, and/or the supervision of the Building Services Manager or other Facilities Management managers in the absence of the Building Services Manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience helpful, but not necessary – will train.
- Must have and maintain a valid New York State driver’s license with a positive driving record per the college’s insurance provider.
RELATION TO OTHER JOBS:
May be asked to work with trades and perform duties not related to general worker duties.
May work in areas that are hot, cold, dusty, noisy and of limited space. Works both inside and outside completing interior and exterior work assignments, climbs ladders, stoops, kneels and crouches.
Requires full range of body motion, including reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing and walking. Must be able to lift/carry items weighing up to 50lbs. Requires standing/ walking for extended periods of time. Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolding and other elevated heights.
Must be able to understand/follow basic safety precautions involved in the operation of motorized equipment and personal protective equipment. Must be able to understand and follow a work schedule and complete assigned tasks in the time allotted.
SOME OVERTIME MAY BE REQUIRED. VACATION APPROVAL MAY BE LIMITED DURING PEAK ACTIVITY.
$12.11 per hour to start.
NYS driver’s license with a good driving record is required.

Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time, 12-month hourly position. Benefits are available and include – health, dental insurance and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time employees with contribution from College. Paid holidays, vacation, personal leave and sick leave. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents.
